Reason Electric Bass Features:
Reason Electric Bass Instruments:
Fender Jazz Bass (1968): String type: roundwound. Playing style: fingered. One of the most recorded bass models of all times. This particular instrument is in original condition with no parts exchanged.
Fender Precision Bass (1965): String type: flats. Playing style: fingered. The Fender Precision bass was the first mass-produced electric bass model and is probably the most best-selling electric bass of all times. The first ‘P-bass’ shipped in 1951 and it’s still being manufactured today.
Gibson Les Paul (1969): String type: vintage roundwound. Playing style: fingered. It’s an American medium scale bass with British sound manufactured between ‘69 and ‘71. The body is made out of solid mahogany, set 3-piece mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard. Due to its heavy weight the Les Paul bass is more popular in the studio than on stage
Rickenbacker 4001 (1974): String type: roundwound. Playing style: Picked. Rickenbacker guitars and basses have very unique design which make them easy to spot wherever they appear. The very popular 4001 model first came out in 1961 and this particular red/white Rickenbacker 4001 bass was manufactured in 1974.
Gibson EB-0 (1970): String type: roundwound. Playing style: fingered. The short scale EB-0 is one of Gibson’s most popular bass models and was manufactured between 1959 and 1979. The design is very similar to the popular Gibson SG electric guitar.
Kay Hollowbody (1963): String type: flats. Playing style: Picked. The Kay Hollowbody electric basses were sold on mail order in the US and were quite inexpensive. Because of the low price the Kay bass could be found almost anywhere in studios across the US and has appeared on many recordings over the years.
MusicMan Stingray Fretless (2001): String type: flats, 5-string. Playing style: fingered. The MusicMan StingRay first came out in 1976 and was designed by Leo Fender. It was one of the first production electricbasses with active electronics. It featured a 9V battery to power the built-in preamp and EQ.
Fender Precision Bass (1978): String type: roundwound. Playing style: picked.
Reason Electric Bass – Preset Patches: These are the basic, instrument specific Combinator patches for various mic/amp combination. Reason Electric Bass – Producer Patches: Producer-made, mix-ready bass sounds. Reason Electric Bass – Style patches: These are Ready-made patches styled for different types of music: Pop, Rock, Funk/Disco, Reggae, Electronic, Hip hop/RnB. These patches come with a full set of effects and other signal treatments to bring out the characteristic genre-centric sound. Reason Electric Bass – Template Patches: Empty, pre-routed patches for building advanced bass/amp/mic combos. Using these as a starting point, you can build your own sounds using every thinkable (and most likely some unthinkable too) combination of instrument, microphones and amplification. Reason Electric Bass – Effect patches: Stomp box type bass effects that make full use of Reason’s effects and routing powers. Most of the effect patches make use of Reason’s Combinator device to give you a complex set of effects and routings by loading a single patch.

Long time no posts, so here is a new one. I’ve been meaning to tell you about this interview for some time … this time is with Brian Transeau also known as BT. It’s an older interview recorded by MacAddict magazine (now renamed to Mac|Life) back in 2002 and is showing how he goes about creating a remix using multiple audio software including the first version of Reason . Watch all three parts, it’s worth it!
I had to post these, just in case you did not see them. Judson “Tettix” Cowan, formerly Cicada is a friendly musician who has taken the time to show us how he makes Fake ‘n’ Bake Chiptunes in Propellerheads’ Reason. This is awesome and really great stuff … Thanks Judson!
This video features “Earth’s Assault on the Central AI” from the album “Technology Crisis”
This video features a remix of Zelda’s Dark Dungeon music
I also love 8 bit, lo-fi and old game sounds, that’s why we created TranSID64 sounds pack
We ARE living in an Internet century! This is not the future, this the truth … lots of traditional forms of entertainment are now making the transition to Internet. Almost everything is now online … why not take advantage? Radio was one of the first to make it’s way to Internet, but a while ago was considered more of “look what you can do with Internet” thing. A few years passed, the technology advanced and internet transfer rates allow everyone to stream hi-quality audio, navigate on internet, downloading all in the same time … no compromise. So now you can take online radio serious!
Most of airwaves broadcasting radios, also allow their listeners to stream online. This is a great achievement because if travel to some other zone or country you can still listen to your favorite radio if you have a laptop with you and a connection to internet!
Also, there are radios that are completely on Internet and as an example I can tell that I’m a big fan of Soma FM for a few years now. Soma FM is an independent, commercial-free and listener-supported internet radio, with 11 unique channels featuring underground electronica, chill out, ambient groove, downtempo, lounge, space music, indie rock and alternative rock, broadcasting from San Francisco. Rusty Hodge is the founder of SomaFM, a professional radio DJ that also developed software for broadcasters, multimedia, and founded Hodge Interactive to put radio and TV stations on the web.
I specially like their Groove Salad channel, which is a nicely chilled plate of ambient beats and grooves as they say . I discovered a lot of good music and artists by listening to Groove Salad for example Sigur Ros, Boards Of Canada, Ulrich Schnauss etc. They stream audio in a mp3 format (128k, 56k, 24k), wma format (128k, 32k) and aacPlus format (48k).
Just as a side note, Groove Salad was one of my inspirations for LOOPSalad V1
According to Accustream Imedia Research, in 2007 online internet radio (live streaming channels and individual track plays) generated 4.85 billion total listening hours, that’s 26.1% more than in 2006, generating a revenue of $92 million from advertising.
In 2007, SomaFM averaged about 5 million listener hours a month and the number is growing with an average of 6.4 million listener hours per month since December 2007. If those numbers are right, then 1.23% of all net radio listening is to Soma FM! (via Rusty’s Blog) This is pretty impressive, congratulations Soma FM!
Go check it out, you might like some radio channels or you could discover some new music!
The Freesound Project, is a success no doubt about it! The Freesound Project aims to create a huge collaborative database of audio snippets, samples, recordings, bleeps, all free to download, copyright free and released under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus License.
Today I’ve received a newsletter email from them with several news and since it passed some time since Bram sent one, it’s worth being taking in consideration:
Freesound has now over 500,000 active members. Now, that’s something … this site is getting closer to a social networking monster, but with people that have a passion for the sounds.
Freesound is close to 50,000 free samples (45734), that’s about 1 audio file per 10 people right? So if you have some original sounds you want to share with others please go for it and let us know … we also did our part
Freesound is looking for universities and institutions who can help them with mirroring the content of the website. If you have a lot of bandwidth and a spare server lying around, please contact Freesound here.
Another great news is that Google Research gave Freesound a 50,000 USD research grant, last year in December. This is a no-strings-attached proposal, so they decided to start a complete rewrite of Freesound, meaning that Freesound version 2.0 is close.
To follow all development of Freesound 2.0, codename Nightingale – and for more in-depth news about Freesound have finally started a blog (I’m already subscribed).
Propellerhead Software started the audio software revolution with ReBirth-338 the first vintage instruments software emulator. After that launched Reason a semimodular workstation, the first software to have CV, cables and a Rack … just like hardware. But look at new Twin 2 made by Fabfilter … the UI is amazing :O
If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s a new interview on Props website featuring DJ Gerald Simpson aka A Guy Called Gerald. This is an interesting interview because he is using Reason for live performances … nice!
A Guy Called Gerald is best known for his work in acid house scene from the late ’80s and for the track Voodoo Ray. At that time, he specialized in techno music produced using equipment such as the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer and the TR-808 drum machine.
His latest album called Proto Acid / The Berlin Sessions, released in August 2006 is a continuous mix album and is a definite return to the dance floor. It was created entirely in Reason!
Watch the interview with A Guy Called Gerald.
Watch his Voodoo Ray (videoclip) where you can hear his expertly programed TB-303 and TR-808:
British electro-dance act The Prodigy have reunited to record their fifth regular studio album Invaders Must Die after the critical acclaimed 2004’s Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned album which was basically entirely produced only by Liam Howlett, the group founder. The band have said that the album will go back to their “old-school but cutting edge” roots and will be released as a CD, CD/DVD set, Double vinyl, luxury 7-inch vinyl box set and a digital download. After the album release, The Prodigy plans a UK tour starting April 2009.
Great news is that “Invaders Must Die” the first single was released as a free download from the band’s website on the November 26. “We just wanted to give the prodigy fans an exclusive free download track to give you the flavour of what is to follow next year with the new record.” I already download it and let me tell you that it sounds hard and fresh.
Meanwhile take look at the “Invaders Must Die” video:
Here is a short interview of the band by Associated Press:
The Prodigy – Invaders Must Die – track listing:
“Invaders Must Die”

“Thunder”
“Colours”
“Take Me To The Hospital”
“Warrior’s Dance”
“Run With The Wolves”
“Omen Reprise”

“Piranha”

Short Band Bio:
In 1990 Liam Howlett got together with dancers/vocalists Keith Flint and Maxim to form The Prodigy. Emerged out of the early UK rave scene and described as a “rock band that plays dance music” The Prodigy have as of 2007 sold over 16 million records worldwide and is the most commercially successful electronic dance music act of recent times. As you already know, Liam Howlett is a Reason avid user: Liam Howlett of Prodigy explains why Reason, to him, is the best thing since sliced bread
I’m shocked and very sad to hear that Michael Jackson is not between us anymore. This is just a tribute I want to bring to the one that was and IS the King of Pop. His music is has been an inspiration for me since childhood. I think Michael Jackson is one of those few people that lived on the this planet that did very much through his art, music and soul for every person and will continue to do so …

Apple iPad has been released. Apple iPad offers a new way to experience web, email, photos and videos. It comes with lots of built-in apps on iPad were designed from the ground up to take advantage of the large, Multi-Touch screen.
Watch Steve Jobs keynote for Apple iPad
Apple iPad Features
A large, high-resolution LED-backlit, IPS display. An incredibly responsive Multi-Touch screen. And an amazingly powerful, Apple-designed chip. All in a design that’s thin and light enough to take anywhere. iPad isn’t just the best device of its kind. It’s a whole new kind of device.
LED-backlit, IPS Display
The high-resolution, 9.7 inch LED-backlit, IPS display on iPad is remarkably crisp and vivid. Which makes it perfect for web browsing, watching movies, or showing off photos. It’s also been designed to work in any orientation — portrait or landscape. And because it uses a display technology called IPS (in-plane switching), it has a wide, 178° viewing angle. So you can hold it almost any way you want, and still get a brilliant picture, with excellent color and contrast.
Multi-Touch
The Multi-Touch screen on the iPad uses the same revolutionary technology that’s in an iPhone. But for iPad, the technology has been completely reengineered for the larger surface, to make it extremely precise and responsive. So when you’re zooming in on a map, flicking through your photos, or deleting an email, iPad responds with incredible accuracy. And it does just what you want it to.
Thin and light
One of the first things you’ll notice about the iPad is how thin and light it is. The screen is 9.7 inches, measured diagonally. So overall, it’s slightly smaller than a magazine. And at just 1.5 lbs and 0.5 inches thin,1 it’s easy to carry and use anywhere. There’s also a slight curve to the back. Which makes it easy to pick up and comfortable to hold.
10 hours battery life
Up to 10 hours battery life. To maximize battery life, Apple engineers took the same lithium polymer battery technology they developed for our notebook computers and applied it to the iPad. As a result, you can use iPad for up to 10 hours while surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching videos, or listening to music.2
Wireless
With built-in 802.11n, iPad can take advantage of the fastest Wi-Fi networks. And it’ll automatically locate available Wi-Fi networks, which you can easily join with a few simple taps. iPad also comes with Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, which lets you connect to devices like wireless headphones or the Apple Wireless Keyboard.
3G
iPad will also be available in a 3G model, with super-fast data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.3 So if you’re traveling, or you happen to be somewhere that doesn’t have a Wi-Fi network, you can still get a fast connection for surfing the web, downloading email, or getting directions.
Performance
The A4 chip inside iPad was custom-designed by Apple engineers to be extremely powerful, and yet extremely power efficient. So the performance is unlike anything you’ve ever seen on a touch-based device. Which makes iPad fantastic for everything from productivity apps to games. But at the same time, the A4 chip is so power efficient that it helps iPad get up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. And iPad is available with a choice of 16, 32 or 64GB flash storage.4 Which gives you lots of room for your photos, movies, music, apps, and more.
30-pin connector. Built-in speaker. Connectivity
The 30-pin dock connector on the bottom of the iPad allows you to dock and charge it. It also lets you connect to iPad accessories like the Camera Connection Kit or the Keyboard Dock.
Audio
The powerful, built-in speaker produces a full, rich sound. Which makes watching a movie or listening to music even more enjoyable. It also comes with a headphone jack and a built-in microphone.
Accessories
There are lots of great accessories that have been specifically designed for iPad. The Keyboard Dock, for instance, is a dock with a full-size keyboard. There’s also a standalone Dock. And because iPad has built-in Bluetooth 2.1, it’ll work with an Apple Wireless Keyboard, too. There’s also a Camera Connection Kit that lets you import photos from a camera or SD card. There’s even an iPad Case that not only protects it, it also allows you to use iPad in various positions, to make it easy to type, look at photos, or watch movies. And through a range of accessories, iPad can output to TVs, projectors and displays.
Apple iPad built-in Apps
Safari
The large Multi-Touch screen on iPad lets you see web pages as they were meant to be seen — one whole page at a time. With vibrant color and sharp text. So whether you’re looking at a page in portrait or landscape, you can see everything at a size that’s actually readable. And with iPad, navigating through the web has never been easier, or more intuitive. Because you use the most natural pointing device there is: your finger. You can scroll through a page just by flicking your finger up or down on the screen. Or pinch to zoom in or out on a photo. There’s also a thumbnail view that shows all your open pages in a grid, to let you quickly move from one page to the next.
Mail
See and touch your email in ways you never could before. In landscape, you get a split-screen view, showing both an opened email and the messages in your Inbox. To see the opened email by itself, you just turn iPad to portrait, and the email automatically rotates and fills the screen. No matter which orientation you use, you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email using the large, on-screen keyboard, or delete messages, with nothing more than a tap and a flick. If someone emails you a photo, you can see it right in the message. You can also save the photos in an email directly to the built-in Photos app. And iPad will work with all the popular email providers, including MobileMe, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL.
Photos
With its crisp, vibrant display, and its unique software features, iPad is an extraordinary way to enjoy and share your photos. For example, the new Photos app displays the photos in an album as though they were in a stack. Just tap or pinch to open the stack, and the whole album opens up. Then you can flip through your pictures, zoom in or out, or watch a slideshow. You can even use your iPad as a beautiful digital photo frame while your iPad is docked or charging. And there are lots of ways to import photos: you can sync them from your computer, download them from an email, or import them directly from your camera using the Apple Camera Connection Kit.
Video
The large, high-resolution screen makes iPad perfect for watching any kind of video: from HD movies and TV shows, to podcasts and music videos. You can also easily move between wide-screen and full-screen with a double-tap. And because it’s essentially one big screen, with no buttons or anything to distract you, the picture fills your line of sight. So you feel completely immersed in what you’re watching.
YouTube
The YouTube app organizes videos so they’re really easy to see and navigate. To watch one, you just tap it. When you’re watching in landscape, the video will automatically play in full screen. And with its high-resolution display, the latest YouTube HD videos will look amazing on iPad.
iPod
With the iPod app, all your music is literally at your fingertips. You can browse by album, song, artist, or genre, with a simple flick. To play a song, just tap it, and the now playing screen will show the album art at full size. Then you can listen to your music with either the powerful built-in speaker, or with wired or Bluetooth wireless headphones.
iTunes
Just tap on the iTunes Store icon, and you can browse and buy music, TV shows, podcasts — or buy and rent movies — wirelessly, right from your iPad. There are thousands of movies and TV shows (in both standard and high definition), along with thousands of podcasts, and millions of songs to choose from. You can even preview songs before you buy them. And you can sync iPad with the content you already have in your iTunes library on your Mac or PC.
App Store
iPad will run almost 140,000 apps from the App Store. Everything from games to business apps, and more. And new apps that have been designed just for iPad are highlighted, so you can easily find the ones that take full advantage of its features. Just tap the App Store icon on the screen and you’ll be able to browse, buy, and download apps wirelessly, right to the iPad.
iBooks
The iBooks app is a great, new way to read and buy books.1 Just download the app for free from the App Store, and you’ll be able to buy everything from classics to bestsellers from the built-in iBookstore. Once you’ve bought a book, it’s displayed on your Bookshelf. To read it, all you have to do is tap on it and it opens up. The high-resolution, LED-backlit screen displays everything in sharp, rich, color, so it’s very easy to read, even in low light.
Maps
See more of the world with high-resolution Satellite and Street View images. You can even see topography with the new Terrain view. You can also search for a nearby business type (for example, “Restaurant”) and then tap on that business to see the route and directions from your current location.
Notes
With its expansive display and large, on-screen keyboard, iPad makes jotting down notes easy. In landscape mode, you get not only a note-taking page but a list of all your notes. It even circles the current note in red. So you can see where you are at a glance.
Calendar
iPad makes it easy to keep on schedule by displaying Day, Week, Month or List views of your calendar. That way, you can see an overview of a whole month, or the details of a single day. iPad will even show multiple calendars at once, so you can manage work and family calendars at the same time.
Contacts
The Contacts app on iPad makes finding names, numbers and other important information quicker and easier than ever before. A new view lets you see both your complete contact list, and a single contact, simultaneously. Need directions? Just tap on an address inside a contact and it’ll open Maps.
Home Screen
The Home Screen gives you one-tap access to everything on iPad. You can also customize your Home Screen by adding your favorite apps and websites, or using your own photos for the background. And you can move apps around to arrange them in any order you want.
Spotlight Search
Spotlight Search allows you to search across iPad, and all of its built-in apps. Including Mail, Contacts, Calendar, iPod, and Notes. It’ll even search apps you’ve downloaded from the App Store. So no matter what you’re looking for, it’s never more than a few taps away.

Apple iPad Reactions:
Wired’s Eliot Van Buskirk says “The iPad offers a step forward for music fans and recorded-music companies in the form of support for the iTunes LP format — a deluxe, extras-laden package that previously played only on desktops and laptops running iTunes.”
Bob Lefsetz says “I’m not convinced I need one! The iPad is almost like a computer without software. Why do I need one again? There’s no MacPaint, like on the original Macintosh. There’s nothing revolutionary. I give Apple credit for building it, but I’ve got to give them credit for building the Cube too.”
The Free Software Foundation’s Holmes Wilson said in a statement that “This is a huge step backward in the history of computing. If the first personal computers required permission from the manufacturer for each new program or new feature, the history of computing would be as dismally totalitarian as the milieu in Apple’s famous superbowl ad.”
Billboard’s Antony Bruno says “It’s fair to say that the newly-unveiled, over-hyped and much-anticipated iPad tablet computer will not be the mobile music business game-changer that previous Apple offerings were, like the iPhone and the App Store. That’s not to say it will have no impact; it will have more of an incremental, trickle-down effect on existing business models rather than enabling new ones.”
ProToolerBlog’s Stiff says “I’d like to say that I see great potential here, but it’s all up to the app developers. I recently did an interview with Jordan Rudess who, besides his work with Dream Theater, is an avid iPhone and multi-touch endorser. He sees a very bright future for music when it comes to multi-touch and it’s very hard not to feel that passion.”
CDM’s Peter Kirn has a scathing reaction to the iPad introduction, saying “I think the new, mobile Apple is doing immense harm to the computing legacy the company has forged. We could have had a Mac tablet today. Instead, we have a giant iPhone – and that’s a decision that has some serious repercussions.”
Audio Cookbook’s John Keston says “I see the iPad as a very pretty, but bulky iPod Touch / Kindle great for Facebook, movies, and e-books, but not something that’s likely to become a significant platform for music or sound design.”
SoundDownUnder’s Damian says “The iPad will be able to be used for virtual keyboards/synths, virtual drum kits, virtual tactile response interface and even a virtual mixer (maybe in conjunction with being connected to a PowerMac/ Macbook etc)… it will also be intersting to see if some of the big music software companies embrace this product as a control surface for their proprietry software.”
Importing footage into Final Cut Pro can be frustrating, and importing HDV footage has been one of the most reported problems. HDV camera like JVC or Sony usually produces files in m2t file extension, which employs MPEG-2 compression scheme. HDV to FCP converter is the best workaround to import HDV into FCP for editing on PowerPC Mac G4, G5 and later, and on Intel Mac v10.4—v10.6 (snow leopard included) by converting HDV .m2t to .mov, .dv or mpeg-4 that FCP compatible with.
The conversion from HDV to FCP on Mac OSX won’t cause video quality loss and all tape time code, frame rate, bitrates setting are just in order so that you don’t have to mess up with them in FCP. Access Music announced OS4 update for the entire Virus TI series. The new update adds exiting and innovative new sound design features and will be available free of charge to all Virus TI users.
Here is a list of new audio effects included in the Virus TI OS4:
Stomp Box Effects
OS4 for the entire Virus TI line of synthesizers brings 6 more distortion flavors to the table, modeled on vintage guitar distortion pedals. Every one of these classic pedals is famous for its distinctive character and has been exploited by some of the greatest guitar heroes of all time. The virtual stomp boxes feature carefully modeled distortion curves and tonal characteristics and include tone controls where appropriate.
Mint Overdrive
The sound of this one just screams tubes – a very special kind of overdrive which results in a wonderful smokey tone. Good for achieving a subtle distortion effect whilst still retaining headroom for dynamics.
Curry Overdrive
A more extreme distortion – like in the original, this does not feature a Tone control.
Saffron Overdrive
The ‘orange’ one. A very harsh distortion, popular with the grunge movement.
Onion Overdrive
A big distortion effect famous for its fuzzy character.
Pepper Overdrive
A clear, powerful distortion that??s perfect for making leads cut right through the mix. Tone control to soften sound with a lowpass filter.
Chili Overdrive
A classic “fuzzbox” overdrive. No tone control, just in-your-face fuzz.
Speaker Cabinet
To compliment the new vintage distortions, a speaker cabinet simulation was added to the effect section. The new effect type greatly helps to fine tune the frequency response of any sound and to give it more focus in the mix.
Vowel Filter Effect
This effect is a simple and effective way to vocalize any sound similar to the way a talk box or vocoder would do.
Comb Filter Effect
The new comb filter creates everything from subtle, pitched overtones to extreme time-warped deconstruction of any given patch.
Arp To Matrix
OS4 for the Virus TI series introduces a powerful new feature that allows you use the arpeggiator pattern to modulate any of the parameters available to the modulation matrix. You can use this to create dynamic, rhythmical patterns within a sound, similar to what you can achieve with a step sequencer.
Update to Virus TI OS4 will be available for FREE in Q1/2010 to all Virus TI users.
Ableton and Serato presents The Bridge, the first result of the partnership announced in October 2008 between Ableton Software (the makers of Live) and Serato Audio Research (makers of Scratch professional DJ solution).
The Bridge spans the gap between music production and DJing, creating a natural link between Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live or ITCH. The Bridge provides a powerful fusion of DJ and production tools, opening a world of opportunities for DJing, remixing and live performance.
You can cross the Bridge in either direction: A. Ableton to Serato
The Bridge provides Ableton Transport Control (ATC), giving you turntable-style control of your own multitrack productions. Simply drag an Ableton Live Set to a deck in Scratch Live or ITCH and use your turntables, CDJ or ITCH controller to control the transport. With ATC, Scratch Live or ITCH provides your productions with deck control, mixing, nudging and DJ style looping, while you can remix, mute/solo tracks, use virtual instruments, change drum patterns, manipulate audio, tweak effects and launch loops on the fly in Ableton Live.
Activating the ‘Ableton View’ in Scratch Live or ITCH opens a representation of Live’s Session View, where you can launch clips and scenes, control instruments and devices, mix, mute and solo—all from within your ITCH or Scratch Live user interface. If you need more detail, just switch to the full Ableton Live application for complete control.
The Ableton View displays critical information from your Ableton Live Set, including:
Clips, including clip name, color and play buttons
Track levels
Level meters
Sends A and B
Device control for effects
Track solo, arm and mute
The Ableton View can be customized to show 4, 5, or 8 scenes, and 4, 6 or 8 tracks.
B. Serato to Ableton
Play your mix rather than cut and paste in a DAW. Forget about having to start a mixtape from scratch because of a mistake at minute fifty-nine. The Bridge is the ultimate mixtape creation tool, letting you export your Scratch Live or ITCH mix as an Ableton Live set. Depending on your Serato hardware setup, fader movements, EQ tweaks and Crossfader cuts on your DJ mixer are recorded as automation and can be edited after the tape stops rolling.
Before you start your DJ set, choose save as ‘.als’ from the recording menu within Scratch Live or ITCH. Instead of recording an audio file, you’ll get a fully automated Ableton Live arrangement, complete with song placement and automation data.
You can edit your Ableton Live Set as much as you want: add new loops, apply effects, adjust your timing, smooth out your fades and obviously, correct any slip-ups. Not only does The Bridge make things easier, you also get a world of additional tools for tweaking your mix to perfection.
The Bridge – Pricing and availability
The Bridge is free for anyone who owns both:
A registered version of Serato Scratch Live or ITCH hardware and
API 527 a single channel module based on API 225L discreet channel compressor and the API 2500 Stereo Bus Compressor.
Features common to the line like “feed forward” (NEW) and “feed back” (OLD) gain reduction methods selectable on the front panel, provide a choice of “that old way”, or “the new way” of compression, for the highest level of flexibility in signal gain control. The “old way” or Feed-Back method is what most of the classic compressors used for the gain control circuit. The “new way” gain reduction is more typical of the newer VCA type compressors that rely on RMS detectors for the gain control voltage.
There is a “SOFT”/”HARD” switch for an “over-easy” type compression resulting in a very natural, uncompressed sound or a typical sharp knee type that lends itself to a much more severe limiting effect.
The Threshold control sets the initial operating parameter. The 527 can be operated with signal input levels from +10 dBu to -20 dBu.
The patented THRUST® function can be switched in and out via the front panel as well, applying a high pass filter before the RMS detector circuit that preserves that punchy bottom end.
The 527 is designed for individual channel use or, through the use of the LINK switch, two units can be combined for Stereo applications via a motherboard bus connection.
The 527 Compressor/Limiter makes use of the 2510 and 2520 Discrete Op-amps and exhibits the reliability, long life, and signature sound which are characteristic of API products.

3RD Power is proud to announce the SV3015 Stereo Valve Power amplifier. SV3015 is a Stereo Valve Power Amplifier that provides switchable 30 or 15 watts of pure tube tone and amplification designed for recording and touring musicians that demand the uncompromising sound and feel of a pure tube output stage without excessive volume.
“Basically, the SV3015 takes all the flexibility and tone found in the power amp section of our flagship HD100 tube amp and puts it in a rack-mount design,” notes 3RD Power founder and designer Jamie Scott. “With so many artists now using computer-based and modeling systems, we saw a need for a pure tube design to bring more warmth and classic tone to digitally-based guitar rigs. The SV3015 helps modern guitarists get the best possible tone out their rack-based rigs.”
SV3015’s Modeling Preamps
With their variety of bang-for-buck tonal simulations, modeling preamps have come a long way. But for discerning musicians, they often fall short of delivering the authentic performance of a real tube guitar amplifier. Why? The simple answer is that it would take literally millions of hours to effectively simulate the finer aspects of even one single amplifier. We’re talking about things such as current flow, voltage swing (several hundred volts!), tube types, bias settings, transformers, circuit impedances, speaker construction, cone excursion (you know, actually pushing air!), room acoustics etc. While it could be done, the variety-to-cost ratio wouldn’t make much sense.
SV3015’s Hybrid Approach to Guitar Tone
Early-era modeling amps provided great value in an affordable package that included a solid-state power amp attached to speakers. They sounded good by themselves but often got lost in the mix when playing with a band. The solution: go hybrid. Shape your tone with a modeling preamp of your choice, then connect it to a tube power amplifier and extension speaker cabinet. Now you’ve got tone shaping variety on the front end connected to a tube amplifier and speaker with actual electrons and air molecules flowing!
SV3015 is Intuitive
Operating the unit is simple: each discreet channel is equipped with individual controls for Volume, Presence and “PUSH.” The PUSH control is a 3RD POWER innovation that provides low-frequency enhancement allowing you to dial in the perfect amount of rich bottom-end tone.
SV3015 is Versatile
Each discreet EL34 (or optional 6L6) output section includes a selectable Power Mode (30 watts/15 watts), Impedance (16 ohm/ 8 ohm) and Phase reversal. Imagine configuring your setup to operate one channel at full power for clean sounds (more clean headroom), the other set at 15 watts for overdrive sounds (more output stage compression and harmonics)… now a jaw-dropping reality with the SV3015!
Have you ever plugged into a multi-amp setup and found the end result to be a mushy, hollow sound? It was most likely due to a phase mismatch between amplifiers. The SV3015 makes certain that you can optimally run your modeling setup in conjunction with other guitar amps. So, when the moment arises that you need to play through a multi-amp setup, you’ll be good to go without any weirdness in your phase.
SV3015 Features:
Selectable Output Power (30/15 watts) allowing you to get rich “open” tube output tone without the fear of being too loud
180º Phase Switch on each speaker output so you can confidently match other tube amplifier setups
Innovative PUSH control for low frequency enhancement
Optimized for use with our HLH 312 or SWITCHBACK™ 212 extension speaker cabinets
Versatile, discreet output sections can be configured to operate in pairs of either EL34 or 6L6 output tubes

Google Nexus One Phone is the first Google branded phone powered by it’s own phone OS. Nexus One combines the latest in hardware from HTC Corporation with the newest Android software.
The goal of Google’s new consumer channel is to provide an efficient way to connect Google’s online users with selected Android phones. The online experience of the web store has been designed with a focus on simplicity.
Consumers can buy the Nexus One without service (meaning any GSM network SIM card can be inserted into the device), or purchase the phone with service from one of Google’s operator partners. As new phones come to market through this channel, consumers will benefit from the ability to match a phone of their choice with the service plan that best meets their needs. Operator prices and plan details will be featured on the site.
“The Nexus One belongs in the emerging class of devices which we call ‘superphones,’ with the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon™ chipset making it as powerful as your laptop computer of three to four years ago. It’s our way to raise the bar on what’s possible when it comes to creating the best mobile experience for consumers,” said Andy Rubin, VP of Engineering. “We look forward to working with handset manufacturers and operators to bring more phones to market through this channel worldwide.”

Google Nexus One – Availability and Future Plans
Nexus One is initially available from the Google web store in the US without service for $529 or starting at $179 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile USA. In the near future, Verizon Wireless in the US and Vodafone in Europe plan to offer services to customers in their respective geographies. Today, consumers can go to www.google.com/phone to learn about the Nexus One and place an order. We will initially take orders from consumers in the US and three other markets – the UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
In the coming months Google plans on partnering with additional operators, offering consumers access to a broad set of service plans. In the future we expect to launch more phones with Android handset partners and to expand the web store to more countries.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found.
‘Twas blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Then when we first begun.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I’m found.
Was blind, but now I see.
