Registered users of Reason Drum Kits 2 can now add a new color to their drum palette with RDK Vintage Mono, a vintage-style drum ReFill in glorious mono. Vintage Mono is a bonus add-on pack for Propellerhead Software’s Reason Drum Kits 2 ReFill, and features a wide array of preset kits and producer patches. The RDK Vintage Mono uses a single microphone to capture a full kit, effectively mimicking the sonic ideals and recording techniques of the 60’s. The cost of these vintage dream drums? RDK Vintage Mono is made up of 55 mb of new samples and features the following patches:

• 14 Preset Kits in four categories: Pop, Rock, Vintage Soul / Funk, Misc;
• 3 Producer kits: Davy D’s Loopmaker, Eric Gadd Vintage Kit, Jocke Skog Mono Metal.

The RDK Vintage Mono ReFill is built on the same individual drum and cymbal hits as those featured in the Reason Drum kits 2 library, only in this case, the sounds you hear were picked up by a single tube microphone - a Neumann U47 whose signal is not available in the original RDK2 setup - placed 5 feet behind the back of the drummer. The result is a set of vintage scented Combinator drum kits with a beautiful, roomy sound - all represented on a single channel in Reason’s mixer. Cause it’s mono, remember?

To give you maximum flexiblity, the preset and producer kits are made up of sounds from both the Vintage Mono and reason Drum Kits 2 ReFills, letting you mix between close and mono ambience mics in the way your used to. Like all new Propellerhead Software ReFills, Vintage Mono makes full use of the Combinator’s front panel controls and rotaries; easily shape the sound of your drums by messing with the Bass Drum Damp control, the Pressure Amount dial, the Short Snare button or the Bass Drum Close On/Off switch…you get the idea.
