Creamware Minimax ASB

Creamware Minimax ASB is a three oscillators hardware synthesizers with a software soul that contains one mixer (which also injects white or pink noise if desired), one filter, two ADS-envelopes, oscillator and filter FM, feedback (if you need to be a tick more nasty from time to time) and all the essence of what made the Minimoog an all-time classic. It should be a public secret, that such apparently spartanic setting couldn t prevent concert halls being transformed into a sea of sparkles. The Minimax ASB captures all the essence, and goes beyond. For example, Velocity controls for Filter and VCA, 128 phat Presets and as many memory spaces for your own creations. And of course, Effects: Chorus, Flanger, Delay. Aftertouch, control of filter cutoff and volume included thanks to the remote software. And the Audio Input can be utilized as emergency room for your floppy Rompler. The SOUND makes it all possible.

Introduction
From 1970 to 1981, over 13,000 Minimoog’s were built. Thank you, Dr. Robert Moog! That would seem to be a lot of units, but in hindsight it was not enough. Many more people wanted it, but missed out for whatever reason. If you missed out, no problem - here is yours! OK, it’s not the original. But Minimax ASB is as close as you can get. The Sound: digitally re-mastered down to each detail. A full fat, dynamic Filter, which provides grip, keeps you and your sound warm, whistles like a teapot on a steam oven, and still knows about the truth behind over-modulation.

Also included: Oscillators with wide tires, deep tread, and brute output. Speedy Envelopes. Twelve voices, almost as powerful as two Memorymoogs. BTW: of course Minimax ASB is completely programmable (with memories to boot!). Best of all: Minimax ASB not only sounds like a Minimoog - you can also really play it like one live. Every pot and every control of the role model is in place. And, via Remote Software, you will find further features, which were previously unavailable.

Minimax virtual analog synthesizer and minimoog emulationThe Minimax was the first ASB-Instrument released by CreamWare. Why? Because the Minimoog was the first Synthesizer, that wrote itself into the history book of “electronic music” with gold ink and bold letters. Ironically, even its creator, Dr. Robert Moog, didn’t expect that the Mini-Version of his “Telephone Cabinets” would ensconce itself among the classic instruments of all time! And, still today, that sound sawtooths, blips, and snaps from loudspeakers all over the world. No doubt: the Minimoog TM was and will remain the reference point. Nonetheless, in 1981, production became too expensive to continue, and ceased.

But even today the instrument is still worth getting teary-eyed over, and is commanding exorbitant prices on the used market. So what makes the sound of the Minimoog - and so the Minimax’s - so unique? Perhaps this is due to the fact that Bob Moog didn’t think like a typical engineer, when he soldered together the first prototype of this instrument. For example, the Filter: the famous Cascaded Filter of the Minimoog doesn’t grind incoming signals until they are analytically correct.
No, quite the opposite: it stomps the sound until it mashes, it compresses and whirls the phase around, it over-modulates, deep-fries the sound and puts hot mustard on top. In short: the Filter puts sound through the ringer. But even if engineers threw their hands up in horror, this is exactly what makes musicians burn. The Minimoog Filter always sounds unpredictable, but always right. Not only warm, but vital; soft and brute, dragging and cuddly. And sometimes, all at the same time!

To rebuild this behavior in the digital domain is very difficult. Creamware succeeded in capturing the sound by using their highly acclaimed SCOPE-Platform. But, something was still missing: the user interface, that being KNOBS. And the feeling of having an INSTRUMENT beneath your fingertips, not just a computer. All that’s changed now. Fear not: the Minimoog will live forever! Well, the real McCoy will become more rare, and thus more expensive. But with the Minimax ASB, the Original has now received reinforcement.
