About Soniccouture

Soniccouture are Dan Powell and James Thompson. They met whilst employed by Yamaha R&D as sound designers, during which time they shaped the sonic palettes of such landmark products as Motif, Motif ES, AN1X, FS1R, RS7000, VL1, A5000, EX5 and more.

In this period they also began working together on sound design projects such as sample library design, music for TV advertising, and film - This project became known as Soniccouture.

In 2005, following work on the Kontakt Experience Library for Native Instruments Soniccouture launched Abstrakt Vol.1, a sophisticated sample library specifically for Kontakt 2. The success of this product led SC to develop further idiosyncratic, characterful libraries, based on unusual instruments and avant-garde sounds that traditionally sample companies do not explore in such depth. This philosophy has won many fans and Soniccouture products are now used in major Hollywood films and professional music production whenever unique, high-quality sounds are required.

Soniccouture remain a fully independent British company, with all distribution and sales (with the exception of the Japanese market) via their own website.
